A11yOps vs accessiBe
accessiBe is a runtime overlay — a script you paste in that tries to patch the page in the browser. A11yOps finds the real issues and hands your team source-level fixes they review and merge. Here is the difference that actually matters.
Choose A11yOps if
Choose A11yOps if you want the underlying WCAG issues fixed in your codebase — reviewed by a human, merged by your team, with a documented remediation trail.
accessiBe might fit if
An overlay can feel like the fastest box to tick. Just know what it does: it leaves your source unchanged, and the FTC fined accessiBe $1M over claims that a script makes a site "automatically" compliant.
We never inject a runtime overlay — we ship source code your developers review and merge.

Why teams choose A11yOps
The fix lives in your code
Overlays leave the source broken and re-apply a patch on every page load. A11yOps changes the underlying markup, so the issue is actually gone — and stays gone.
Human-reviewed, you merge
Every fix is reviewed by a person and delivered on a branch your team owns. No auto-merge, no black box, nothing injected on the visitor side.
Honest about scope
Automated and heuristic testing reliably catches ~30–40% of WCAG. We tell you which, and put a human on the rest — the opposite of "automatic compliance."
In fairness
What accessiBe gets right: it installs in minutes and is inexpensive to start. If a one-line script that never touches your source is genuinely all you need, it is the fastest option — just be clear about what it does and does not do.
Questions
- Is accessiBe an overlay?
- Yes. It loads a JavaScript widget at runtime that attempts to modify the page in the browser. It does not change your source code.
- Did accessiBe really get fined?
- In April 2025 the FTC approved a final order requiring accessiBe to pay $1 million over deceptive claims that its product could make any website "automatically" compliant. The press release is linked below.
- Can A11yOps fix everything automatically?
- No, and we will not claim it. Automated and heuristic testing reliably catches roughly 30–40% of WCAG success criteria. We separate the confirmed issues from the ones that need a human and put a person on the rest.
